Happy 3rd day of school!

Noteworthy items from today:

We had to have a big discussion today on sportsmanship, positive attitudes, considering the feelings of others, following rules, and honoring God with our words and actions. There have been some problems at recess when it comes to how we "encourage" our teammates while we play, and also about how we handle disappointments if things don't go our way. We will keep working on it.

In English we worked some more on alphabetizing words and using dictionary guide words. Many of the students are still feeling frustrated. This is a difficult concept for the students to grasp. We will continue to work together on it in class and I will not take grades on the assignments until I am confident they understand what they need to do. I told them to not take today's worksheet home as homework, we will work on it again tomorrow in class.

We changed recess times to later in the day because I was concerned about the large number of much younger children that were outside the same time we were. What we did today worked much better. There were fewer children outside and we didn't have to worry as much about accidentally trampling someone else when we were running around. We will try it again tomorrow, if it works as well as it did today I will talk with Mr. H about making it a permanent change in our schedule and I will send  home a copy of the new times.

Today's assignments:
Christ Light - worksheet
Reading - finish story map worksheet, finish character profile for Arthur
Handwriting - lower case cursive "r"  and "s" worksheet
English - worksheet we are doing together in class, not intended to be done at home

Have a nice evening!
